It is great to discuss on Lord Ganesha: our powerful lord and beloved friend!
Before we move on, let us pray Lord Ganesha(a.k.a Ganapathi) for his Grace:
Namami vighneshwara pada pankajam |
I salute obstacle remover Lord Ganesha’s lotus feet (for his Grace).
As discussed earlier, Lord Ganesha is special in many respects among prominent Hindu deities. He can get us material prosperity and help us to achieve liberation, the real goal of yoga. According to the Scripture Ganapathi Athravashirsha, he is the lord of muladhara chakra in our psychic body. It says:
Tvam muladhara sthitosi nityam | – Ganapathi Atharvashirsha
Lord Ganesha! You always dwell in muladhara chakra(of our psychic body).
Muladhara Chakra: Interface between Material and Spiritual Worlds
Muladhara chakra(root wheel) is very strategically located. It is an interface between material and spiritual lives. How?
Muladhara represents Earth element. So, it symbolizes life on earth and material prosperity. This is where the Divine Mother Kundalini also sleeps as a serpent. The spiritual awakening starts from this chakra. The Sushumna channel in which Devi Kundalini moves also starts from muladhara! With this understanding, let us now come back to the topic of Lord Ganesha.
Lord Ganesha in Muladhara Chakra
As mentioned, he is the lord of muladhara chakra. In other words, he rules our material life on the Earth. He is also the gatekeeper at muladhara, the first chakra where our spiritual evolution starts by awakening Kundalini. So, interestingly, if we want to go for spiritual life, we need Ganesha’s Grace!
In summary, Lord Ganesha is all powerful and if we pray him, he will definitely bestow us with both material prosperity and spiritual liberation. Here is another popular question:
